Allison O’Mahony is a knitting designer and technical editor. Through her company Kniterations, she provides patterns for functional, modern knitwear and a wide range of technical editing services. Creative and analytical, Allison enjoys both developing her own patterns and helping other designers perfect theirs.
As a tech editor, Allison loves to help designers feel confident that their patterns are in the best possible shape before publication. In addition to carefully checking for errors, she works with designers to improve the overall clarity and consistency of their patterns while maintaining their unique style and voice. In addition to working with independent designers, Allison has also done technical editing for Rib Magazine and White Gum Wool. A portfolio of patterns she has edited can be found here.
As a designer, Allison’s designs reflect her detail-oriented nature; she loves problem-solving and adding clever touches to her knitting patterns so that you can create beautifully polished knits. Allison’s designs have been featured in publications by Interweave Knits, Knit Picks, SweetGeorgia Yarn, and Knotions. Her self-published designs can be found all over the Internet, including Ravelry, Etsy, Craft Foxes, and LoveCrafts.
Allison lives in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada with her husband and three children. She can almost always be found within arm’s reach of her knitting bag and calculator (and quite often either a coffee or a pint, depending on the time of day).
